5th Annual Belgian Beer Festival: Saturday, October 3, 12–5 PM, Battery Park, Historic New Castle, DE, $50 general admission. Sample 30 varieties of Belgian beer alongside food, live entertainment, and views of the Delaware River. Art on the Green, a large outdoor artisan craft festival, is also happening the same day, making it easy to enjoy both events. Tickets.

Haunted History of West Chester: Thursday, October 8, 6:30–8 PM, Old Glory Statue at the Chester County Historic Courthouse, 2 N. High Street, West Chester, PA, $20 per person. Join West Chester Social Club and ChesCo Tours for a lantern-guided walking tour through West Chester’s spooky history, with ghostly stories and strange tales shared at the locations where they happened.

Kennett Brewfest: Saturday, October 10, 12–5 PM, Kennett Square, PA. Raise a glass at this annual celebration featuring 80+ local, regional, and national breweries pouring more than 175 beers, plus live music, local food trucks, and plenty of fall festival energy.

The Wildshore Store Pop-Up: Friday, October 16, 2-7 PM at Rooted on Main. Shop Sienna Holland’s University of Delaware inspired designs. She created custom mocknecks, hoodies and more for Delaware Students. 

Write a Little Love - with Broadway & Park: Saturday, October 17, 1-3 PM at Rooted in New London. Join us for a special letter writing event where we write thoughtful notes, draw pictures or share a few kind words with our troops and residents of local nursing homes. All ages are welcome at this free community event. We will provide everything you need, just bring a little kindness to share. You will also be able to learn more about our penpal program, the Sunday Letter Project!

Hagley Craft Fair: Saturday–Sunday, October 17–18, 10 AM–4 PM, Hagley Museum, Wilmington, DE. Browse handmade jewelry, pottery, artwork, woodwork, textiles, and other one-of-a-kind treasures from talented artisans while exploring the scenic Hagley grounds along the Brandywine. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 6–14; onsite tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 6–14. Free for Hagley members and children under 6.

Kennett Underground Railroad Bus Tour: Sunday, October 18, 1 PM, Kennett Heritage Center, 120 N. Union Street, Kennett Square, PA, $30 per person; $15 for children under 14. This approximately 2-hour, 15-minute guided bus tour explores Kennett Square’s Underground Railroad history and departs from the Kennett Heritage Center.

NEW DATE! Meet the Maker of Maplehurst - Talk, Q&A and Book Signing with local author Christie Purifoy: Saturday, October 24, 11 AM at Rooted in Kennett. Christie Purifoy is joining us to share the story of her journey as a writer, gardener, and placemaker. She will also answer your gardening questions, offer suggestions for fall planting, and sign copies of her books. If you want to understand what makes the Kennett Square area such a special place to garden or if you find yourself in need of a little gardening inspiration, we hope you’ll join us.

Halloween Parade & Trick or Treat Main Street: Sunday, October 25, 3–4 PM, Main Street. Celebrate Halloween with a festive parade and trick-or-treating along Main Street. Check the event photos for more details.

Spooky Cemetery Tour: Saturday, October 31, West Chester, PA. Explore the final resting places of some of Chester County’s most famous residents and hear the stories behind the gravestones during this annual Halloween cemetery tour.

Halloween’s Silent Book Club: Saturday, October 31, 1-3 PM at Rooted in Kennett. Sign up to claim your spot at this free gathering for book worms! The first half hour is spent socializing and grabbing light refreshments before an hour of reading. The last half hour readers can chat about their books or wander Rooted and enjoy 10% off all their store purchases.

Story & Craft Time: Mondays at 10:00 AM, Christian Life Center, All kids and parents are invited to join us every Monday in the Yellow Mug Cafe for story time. We ask that parents accompany their kids for these events. No registration required

Track & Build Hot Wheels: Tuesdays at 10:00 AM, Kennett Square Library, Come build and race using our Hot Wheels tracks and cars during our Start Your Engines! Morning Sessions, in the Children's Area.

Walking Book Club: Tuesdays in March, 10:00-11:00 AM, Strollers and families welcome.Bundle up, grab an audiobook, and walk with friends while listening to your favorite library books! Check them out at Kennett Library, where we start, and walk with us in town. We end our walks at Mary Pat's Provisions, where you will receive 50 cents off a beverage. Registration required for beverage coupon. Families with strollers or wheelchairs are welcome! Every Tuesday morning this month 10-11am.
