Meet Shannon Smerkanich of MFAD Creations

My name is Shannon Smerkanich, and I am the proud owner of MFAD Creations. I am originally from Sussex County, Delaware. My husband and I moved to Lincoln University, Pennsylvania in 2005 after getting married, and we are proud parents of two children who attend the Avon Grove School District.

I created and trademarked Journey Pillows® with the vision of providing unique reading pillows that reflect both craftsmanship and adventure. After developing the concept for my Journey Pillow®, I decided to test the waters by showcasing them at a local school book fair. I set up a small booth and displayed the pillows outside the book fair. The response was incredibly positive, with many attendees expressing interest in the unique design and functionality of the Journey Pillow®. I took the opportunity to speak with potential customers and received valuable feedback that helped me fine-tune the product. The book fair served as a great platform to introduce and promote the Journey Pillow®, and it was there that I made my first sales.

The positive reception and initial sales at the book fair motivated me to take the next step in establishing my Journey Pillow® business. It helped me realize that there was a genuine market for my product, and it gave me the confidence to pursue further opportunities to grow my business.

I absolutely love being a part of the crafting community and showcasing my work at local artisan markets. It brings me so much joy to see my Journey Pillows® being sold online as well as 6 retail locations, and I'm thrilled that they are also featured in another wonderful local business, The Slumber Soiree.
