Cacti & Clay
Tai Black is the creative force behind Cacti & Clay, a ceramics studio known for its earthy palette, playful color, and one-of-a-kind painted pottery. Her work features abstract depictions of beauty found in everyday life—lush greenery, blooming flowers, expressive faces, and organic forms—painted by hand onto thoughtfully crafted vessels. Each piece is entirely unique, with mugs being among her most beloved creations, available in a wide range of shapes and sizes that make daily rituals feel a little more special.
Tai fell head over heels for pottery just two years ago, and what began as a creative curiosity quickly grew into a full-fledged passion. With the help of her husband, she transformed a small “she shed” on their hobby farm into a pottery studio, fully equipped to bring her ideas to life. Never one to limit her creativity, Tai has also begun exploring jewelry making alongside her ceramics.
When she’s not in the studio, Tai can be found hiking with her family, tending to her abundant (and occasionally unruly) flower garden, or spending time with her goats, chickens, and ducks. Her surroundings deeply influence her work, infusing each piece with warmth, whimsy, and a grounded sense of place.
