Flax of Life
Flax of Life, founded by Sharon O'Connell, offers a unique selection of aromatherapy products, crafted with beautiful fabrics and filled with natural, soothing ingredients like lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, and peppermint. The business began from Sharon's early love for creating and selling, which dates back to her childhood lemonade stands and her college years crafting macrame and handmade items.
After a decade as a claims adjuster, Sharon returned to her passion for crafting when she discovered a rice-filled neck wrap at a friend’s baby shower. Inspired, she began experimenting with her own aromatic versions, using herbs from her garden. Initially crafting without sections, her father suggested adding seams to improve the design, a change that enhanced both comfort and usability.
Her business started locally, selling at craft fairs, and then expanded in 2013 with an Etsy shop, originally named Sharon's Stones. Over time, she phased out heavier products, like frames, to focus on the neck wraps, transitioning from rice to flaxseed in 2018—a decision that brought her vision for Flax of Life to life.
Now, Sharon's business thrives with support from family and friends, especially her husband, Tim, who has been her constant advocate. She takes pride in providing products that bring comfort and relief to her customers, fulfilling her dream of building a business that enhances well-being.
