Paul Carpenter

Meet Paul Carpenter

If you love Philadelphia, chances are you’ll find something familiar in the artwork of Paul Carpenter. From hometown sports pride to the little details that make the city special, his designs capture the personality of Philly in a way that feels both nostalgic and entirely his own.

Based in Philadelphia, Paul is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans illustration, graphic design, printmaking, and painting. He brings these mediums together through intricate layers of imagery, creating pieces that invite you to look a little closer. Each design is an opportunity to celebrate the places, traditions, and stories that make Philadelphia feel like home.

Paul’s creative path began after graduating from the University of Delaware. While working at a surf, skate, and snowboarding shop, he started experimenting with screen printing in his garage, teaching himself new techniques along the way. When the recession opened the door to freelance work, he embraced the opportunity to pursue his creativity full-time. What began as a hands-on learning experience grew into a career built around the city he loves.

Sports quickly became a natural source of inspiration. One of Paul’s early Philadelphia-themed designs featured the Phillies’ Fightin’ Phils mascot, which he made as a Christmas gift for family and friends. That first project helped spark a larger collection of work celebrating Philly teams and the fans who stand behind them. Since then, Paul has collaborated with the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers, creating everything from apparel to fan gear.

But there’s much more to his work than sports. Paul’s illustrations often weave together local landmarks, historical references, neighborhood culture, and everyday Philly humor. His large-scale murals bring these stories to life in new ways, while his prints and everyday goods make them accessible to fans who want to bring a little hometown pride into their own spaces.

One of the most charming details in Paul’s work is his appreciation for the language of the city itself. His signature “wooder ice” is a playful nod to the unmistakable Philly accent, reminding us that sometimes the smallest details are the ones that feel most like home.

For Paul, creating art is also about connecting with the people who enjoy it. Even as his work reaches a wider audience, he continues to show up at local festivals and events, meeting fans and sharing the stories behind his designs.

Away from his work, Paul enjoys spending time outdoors and making memories with his family. His appreciation for Philadelphia and its people continues to shape what he creates, with even more ideas waiting to take form.

We love how Paul transforms familiar Philadelphia places, traditions, and team spirit into artwork that feels personal. Whether you’re a lifelong local, a devoted sports fan, or someone who simply loves this city, his pieces offer a way to celebrate the place we call home.
