There’s a special energy in this corner of Kennett, one we’ve felt from the moment we stepped into R-P Nurseries' gift shop. We know so many of you are itching to peek inside and today, we’re opening the door to share what’s ahead.

Before we could bring Rooted’s vision to life, we had to start by rolling up our sleeves—literally. The room was still filled with the original displays and merchandise. Once everything was cleared out, we faced the next challenge: those teal and orange walls. It took multiple coats of primer to tame that thick orange paint before we could even think about adding our own touches.

Then came the trim work. Beautiful, ornate… and no joke to paint. Every detail demanded patience, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. That intricate trim is part of the charm of this historic space, and giving it new life made the room feel like a true blank canvas—ready to be filled with Rooted’s colorful, intentional merchandise.

With the room prepped and brightened, it was time to start shaping the space into something functional and beautiful. We went on the hunt for unique furniture finds, pieces that brought character while offering practical storage for a busy shop. Little by little, the room began to take form.

A cozy rug was laid out. Shelf tracking was anchored securely to the walls. A beautiful new register counter was built, and all the tech needed to run our system was carefully set up. A chandelier was hung, casting warm light over the room. It took so many hands to bring this stage together. It’s the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed, but is absolutely crucial to creating the space. Even the prettiest room needs a whole lot of elbow grease before it starts looking effortless.

With the bones of the room in place, our Christmas elves dove into the most delightful part: making the space beautiful. Shelves were styled with care, gift combos arranged just so, and displays crafted to spotlight the incredible work of our local and small artists. From the outside, it looks like effortless holiday magic—but behind the scenes? It’s more like moving the ladder 15 times, losing the hammer exactly 14 of those times, and realizing no one has sat down since… sometime yesterday.

It’s physically exhausting, creatively consuming, and somehow still the part we love most. Because each display becomes a little story, each shelf a tiny love letter to the makers we carry. And now, this room is filled with all your favorites: fashion and beauty finds, accessories, giftables, stationery, home décor, delicious gourmet foods, and so much more. Each pieceis thoughtfully placed, sprinkled with charm, and ready for you to discover.

A huge thank-you to every member of the Rooted Team for their dedication, creativity, and heart in bringing this new space to life. And believe it or not, this blog only reveals one of the rooms inside the gift shop—there’s so much more beauty waiting to be discovered.
